Endorsements for the 2011 exhibition

South Africa needs well-qualified people to build and strengthen the economy in an increasingly competitive global marketplace. With government's new growth plan to create five million jobs by 2020; the need to develop and maintain intellectual capital in all key business sectors such as manufacturing, mining, engineering, services, tourism, agriculture and environmental management, is critical.

Sasol Techno X Development is supported and fuelled by advances in the fields of science, maths and technology. We are, today, using technology in ways that were undreamt of ten or twenty years ago, and the possibilities for the future are unlimited. This technology will enable us to push back the frontiers of poverty and advance the South African dream of a better life for all.

Sasol is proud to present the eleventh science, maths and technology exhibition - Sasol Techno X, and we hope that through this exhibition, we will inspire South Africa's youth and future leaders to be smarter, more knowledgeable, entrepreneurial and productive.

This year, Sasol partnered with the International Year of Chemistry under the theme ‘Chemistry, our life, our future!’ After a decade of celebrating science, maths and technology, Sasol Techno X is entering a new era.

The combination of a career guidance exhibition with hands-on experiences creates an awareness of opportunities and careers in the various fields of science, maths and technology. Learners will be informed about career paths and subject choices, as well as the admission requirements to tertiary institutions, thus allowing them to better engage with possibilities of future careers.

Sasol Techno X aims to create interest and excitement amongst learners and educators to accept the challenges of tomorrow. We would like to expose our visitors at a practical level, to the technological world behind the key sectors of the economy. With this exhibition we seek to showcase how Sasol has excelled over the past six decades using technology development and chemistry as our base. We invite you to join the celebration of the year of chemistry at Sasol Techno X 2011 as you explore the options to a great career in the fields of science, maths and technology; and we hope you will one day assist us and the country in reaching new frontiers.
