Winners not present at the prize giving will be informed telephonically.
The Sasol Techno X 2017 Projects Competition for learners from the Mpumalanga province, provides an opportunity for Gr 7 to Gr 12 learners to contribute to innovation and idea generation. It provides a platform for enthusiasts who are interested in scientific topics beyond those covered by the school syllabus. It also gives learners the opportunity to do research and extend their school projects beyond the curriculum specifications.
This competition entails that learners follow a scientific project process to investigate a problem in any of the specified 14 categories. Apart from the more traditional mathematics and engineering disciplines, fields beyond the school curriculum such as animal/veterinary science, health care, energy, astronomy and space science may be investigated.
Projects are displayed at the Sasol Techno X where judges will interview participants on their findings as part of the evaluation process. Winning learners and their schools receive handsome cash prizes, the highest prize being R2 000 for the winning school.
Sasol Techno X 2016 is introducing this new competition in which learners can submit mini projects in four categories, namely:
The Sasol Techno X Art Competition provides an opportunity for learners to express their understanding of “today’s minds for tomorrow’s future” through art that depicts mathematics, science and technology. Artworks using waste recyclables are entered in a separate category. An open artwork category is available for Gr 11 and Gr 12 learners in which artworks don’t necessarily have to depict mathematics, science and technology.
Sasol Techno X 2017 is presenting this competition to increase environmental awareness. Gr 4 – Gr 12 learners are encouraged to create a fashion garment from used recyclable material. Fashion shows will be held at Sasol Techno X 2017 at 11:30 from 1 to 3 August 2016 depending on your relevant grade. Grade 4-6 learners compete on 1 August 2017, Grade 7-9 learners compete on 2 August 2017 and Grade 10-12 learners compete on 3 August 2017.
